Our Story

It Started With a Family Moment

In 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, something unexpectedly simple became difficult to find: a paper calendar. Stores were closed, deliveries were delayed, and suddenly our family—like so many others—was juggling schedules through sticky notes, messages, and reminders scattered across different phones.

That small frustration sparked a bigger realization: families deserve a calmer, clearer way to stay organized—one that lives in the home, not on another screen.

Built From Real Life, Not Theory

jCal grew out of everyday family life. We had already learned the value of accuracy and reliability through our smart home setup, where Jewish times powered by the trusted Zmanim Engine™ quietly guided Shabbos and Yom Tov lighting without fail. That same precision became the foundation for something new—a calendar designed not just to track events, but to support the rhythm of Jewish family life.

What started as a practical solution quickly became something more meaningful: a shared place where schedules, milestones, and traditions could live together, visibly and beautifully.

Family First — Always

At its heart, jCal is about people. Families span generations, cities, and time zones, yet the moments that matter—birthdays, anniversaries, yahrzeits, holidays—connect us all. We wanted a calendar that remembers these moments without needing to be rebuilt every year, one that grows with a family and carries its story forward.

That focus shaped every decision. jCal isn’t designed to demand attention or create more screen time. It’s meant to quietly support family connection—helping everyone stay in sync while leaving more room for conversation, presence, and time together.

Growing With Families Everywhere

As our own family changed—children growing older, moving farther away—jCal had to grow too. What began as a home project evolved into a stable, remotely updated system that could support families across countries and continents, year after year.

Today, jCal brings together:

  • Thoughtful scheduling that stays visible until it’s done
  • Shared and private family recipes, preserved and passed on
  • Full Hebrew calendar support for holidays, birthdays, and yahrzeits
  • Accurate zmanim, weather, and time—always updated, always reliable
  • A clean, calm display designed to live in your home, not distract from it

Each feature exists because a real family needed it.

Thank you for welcoming jCal into your home. We hope it becomes part of your family’s story—just as it has become part of ours.
